"Our employees embrace the systems because they mirror
our operations."
About Just In Time Consulting

Just In Time Consulting is built on the idea that every business needs software to operate, but despite the marketing messages, no one software package can fit the needs of every business. And in fact, some companies may never find software that works the way they do.

Just In Time programmers typically have 10 years or more of 4D programming experience in all different types of systems. We've worked in all kinds of systems, in all kinds of fields. Our job is to learn your business and give you the best possible result in software.

We have a number of rules we use to guide our projects:

Rule #1: Manage Expectations

Just In Time believes that managing expectations is the most important aspect to software consulting and development. The most common reason projects fail is that there is no meeting of the minds in terms of what customers are expecting a project to cost and what results are expected for the money. Our customers want to know what they're going to spend, what they're going to get for their money, and how long it's going to take to deliver. We do our best to give you realistic budgets and schedules for the work you need. And we're going to ask lots of questions along the way!

Rule #2: See Rule #1

If your customers don't trust you, none of the other rules matter.

Rule #3: Don't Think You Know Better Than The Client

Some software developers will ignore input from your employees and write software based on how they think your business should be run. The result is that your custom software still doesn't work the way you do, and will often need to be re-written. Certainly we often find efficiencies when building your system, some of them quite siginificant. But we don't pretend that we know your business better than you do. We listen to your staff and we build the way you work.

Rule #4: Progress Brings Payment

Projects run off course when they are not properly managed. It's not uncommon for clients to find themselves wondering what they're really getting for all those checks they're signing. We break projects in to logical milestones and deliver pieces as we go. You see actual progress being made before you pay for the next step.

Rule #5: If you can't do it, don't take it

If your project requires technology or expertise that we can't provide, we won't waste your time. We have plenty of clients, we have no interest in trying to make our solutions fit when they won't. Besides, most of our clients come to us from positive word of mouth. If we don't think that we can make you a happy customer from the get-go, we'll let you know.
